About PyCon Tanzania, Our Story and Mission

Creating Python opportunities.

We're the volunteers behind Tanzania's Python and data-science scene. Since 2019 we've run PyCon Tanzania, free DjangoGirls workshops and PyData meetups, and hosted DjangoCon Africa twice. Backed by the Python & Django Software Foundations.

Our History

We grew from grassroots meetups and DjangoGirls workshops in Dar es Salaam. The first PyCon Tanzania was held in 2019; by 2024 we had run five editions, and along the way hosted DjangoCon Africa in Zanzibar (2023) and Arusha (2025).
